Why geologists make terrible comedians

Ever notice how geologists always seem to rock the same old jokes? I guess when you’re used to looking at the layers of the earth, it’s hard to get the punchline to really ‘surface.’ I mean, I once tried telling a joke about well design, but it just went over everyone’s heads like groundwater in a sandy aquifer! What’s your worst hydrology-related joke?

Totally relate! It’s like geologists dig deeper but still can’t find a good punchline. I’ve tried using soil types in my jokes, but it just gets too muddy.

I get it! When I tried using sediment deposition as a punchline, it just confused everyone. I’ve learned that timing’s key — sometimes, mixing in a little geology humor with everyday scenarios helps land the joke better.
